“Gabriel Caloian is an artist of his time, in the best sense. It breathes voluptuously l`air du temps and vibrates naturally to cultural mundanities. And yet he is a rebel and an anarchist, destined for an age of liquid time, of weak thinking, of soft forms, of the playful as a way of knowing and surviving.
The decor of his works is fed from the postmodern bazaar of failed symbols in ornament, where cave paintings, Egypt, Mesopotamia, mythologies, Christianity and logos of consumerist temples meet in the democracy of irony without borders. (Dana Lungu)
